When oral hygiene is not optimal, food particles and bacteria
adhere to the surface of the tooth. If these are not removed,
they can result in caries and gum immflamation (periodontal
disease). Besides gum inmflamation and bleeding, periodontal
disease causes resorption of the bone supporting the tooth,
and if left untreated it can lead to tooth loss. Traditional
periodontal treatments (cleaning) keep gums healthy and inhibit
bone loss.
Besides the conventional methods
used to control periodontal diseases, today there are many
procedures available to improve the esthetics of the gum line.
